Application mobilization is a hot topic these days, but the path to reaching true enterprise mobility is not always clear. Most companies are at least defining a mobile strategy to deliver enterprise mobile applications to their employees. Some have actually mobilized a few applications. For everyone though, the demand for enterprise mobile apps is increasing at an exponential rate.

Yet, there is a wide gap between an enterprise mobile strategy and the actual development and delivery of mobile applications. The challenge is that there are thousands of enterprise applications to mobilize but too few skilled resources, not enough time and never enough budget. While there are some applications that truly require custom coding and new development to mobilize, the reality is that the majority really do not require customer development from those same scarce resources.

Let’s not forget that custom coding is downright hard. Often times the source code for the original applications does not exist anywhere to be found and therefore cannot be modified to work for mobile. Starting from scratch is often futile because the business rules and logic of existing applications is only documented in a user’s head.  Sure, you can force fit a desktop application onto a mobile device but the user experience will prevent adoption to justify future projects. If an enterprise mobile app isn’t usable and doesn’t incorporate required business rules, then mobilizing it won’t move the needle for a business.

There is another way – one that will impact your business quickly and will deliver a mobile first strategy with the best user experience. By transforming enterprise applications and presenting them as native mobile apps, companies can lowering costs and implementation time by 4x.
